Hussey Stomps Gossett in Landslide, Wright Defeats Stokes By 55 Votes,Prop E Passes

April 8, 2014

Tonight's elections throughout St. Charles County brought several surprises. The St. Charles County Ambulance District got its Proposition E to pass with a large ~58% (~19,000 votes) to ~41% (~13,000 votes)
voter approval. The new 11 cent property tax is reported to increase a real estate property's tax bill by $42 on a home worth $200,000.00.  The success of the measure will create a couple more ambulance bases, fill currently vacant positions and allow for the first district employees' raise in some three years.

Alderman-Elect Hussey
In Wentzville, Alderman-elect Robert Hussey trounced current Alderman Gossett by a margin of  some 40 percent. The not-yet-official tally was Hussey with 638 votes and Gossett with 253. Reported polling had Hussey ahead nearly the entire election cycle, but no one seemed to believe Hussey would run away with the election the way tonight's numbers indicate. Hussey credited his wife's campaign management as a major factor in his decisive win.

Alderman-Elect Wright

Perhaps the most surprising -- but closer -- race was between Alderman-elect Linda Wright and current Wentzville Alderman Rick Stokes.  Again, reported polling had Alderman Stokes ahead by a few percentage points throughout this aldermanic election cycle. However,
Linda Wright looks to have won the seat by some 55 votes. The margin of victory is nearly 8 percent and so should not trigger an automatic recount however. The New Wentzvillian left a message for Ms. Wright, but has not heard word from her.

Many Wentzville pundits point to Mayor Guccione's and Missouri Representative Bryan Spencer's open endorsements of Wright and Hussey as significant catalysts to their victories. Some say that a New Wentzvillian article that circulated throughout Wentzville may have had an impact as well.  The story involved Alderman Stokes interaction with citizen Jason Johns in the parking lot of Buffalo Wild Wings about a year or so ago. The piece included statements from Alderman Stokes and a server that works for Buffalo Wild Wings.  Mr. Johns posted his version of events as comments on blogs about the story.

Wentzville's Mayor Guccione said "Wright and Hussey's hard work, deep commitment, concern for Wentzville and resumes are what allowed them to prevail. I welcome them to the board."

Grand Master and Alderman-elect Michael Rhoades will take over Wentzville Alderman Sonya Shryock's Ward 2 seat. Shryock did not run for re-election and Rhoades was unopposed.

Former Cottleville Mayor Don Yarber was unable to capture an aldermanic seat in his Ward 2 run. Donald Buchheit will take the seat instead with a an impressive 173 to 99 vote victory.

  3. Maybe you'll hear from Linda Wright after she has a chance to sleep, yesterday must have been tiring polling all day. I'm so glad she won and not Stokes, who would have put the Home Builder's needs before the home owners. I heard they paid for his campaign and with that comes paybacks. This is a great day in Wentzville. We gained someone ethical and got rid of someone who wasn't. Could my faith in politics become restored? Maybe. Congrats to Hussey and Wright. Good race.

  4. Wentzville is heading down the wrong path. It is sad. You can not declare a major victory for two unimpressive candidates when only 8% of our community voted. That should tell you that our community does not care and are apathetic towards politics. Hussey was fired for more reasons than people know. I work in Dardenne Prairie and people know what he did. As for Wright, she won because of a horrible piece of slander. Stokes lost because he could not keep his mouth shut and wash his hands. Gossett lost because I really don't think he had the desire to fight for it. It is sad that this is the best of Wentzville. But wait...what is the Mayor going to do when he runs for reelection? How is he going to explain porn use on his city computer? Gender discrimination against the police chief? Should be interesting now that he has made new enemies! I have a feeling this won't be posted. The truth is not what people want to see or read.

  9. Cmon Carter, you are an attorney. Surely you can give your readers some feedback on the Police Chiefs frivolous lawsuit. Please tell me, if she is still getting a paycheck, how has she been "hurt"? Lisa Harrison is a fraud and was hired under a conflict of interest. Let's see, she is from Florida and so was Stokes, Hmmmm. Conflicts of interest seem to follow both of them around.

    1. Stokes is not a native of Florida. That is not the accurate.

    2. Did I say "native" anywhere?

  10. That's the best defense. This will cost our city. Blame stokes. Haahhahhahah. Don't you think they are regretting pushing stokes and gossett out? They are citizens soon. Talk about that Carter. Stokes saved the mayor's butt, not this time. Even if she dated someone, he didn't hire her. The alderman, mayor and lambi did. Can't wait to watch this unfold.

  11. If you knew anything about harrasment, you would know this is going to get ugly. The mayor and Sonya are very nervous. A lot of people know stuff. Including Carter. Subpoena everyone. Hahahhahahhahah

  12. If this is a real wentzville site, why is it not updated on current events? Some crazy stuff going on. People may want to hear about and be informed.

  14. Well, the new board will decide the fate of her and others. It will be good for these new alderman to see how their city has been so corrupted by the alderman they took out.....oh yeah, i' m sure that Lisa will have to answer for letting stokes drive home intoxicated from buffalo wild wings.....all cops should be subpoenaed! They know more about this than anyone.....she herself will be disrupting the workplace with this frivolous lawsuit against lohmar, for that she should be terminated. Maybe he will counter sue??? Who knows?

    1. This board has nothing to do with her. If they let her go now, then they will really loose it in the shorts. This is not a frivolous lawsuit, there is a lot of evidence and soon to be information to come out.

  15. Was stokes drunk? Is there blood work or breathalizer? Nope. Lets talk facts. If I had to be on someones side, it would be hers. The city is going to pay for this. I love how people keep saying corrupt alderman are gone. I can't wait to see this board operate without Stokes keeping them on track. I'm done with this site. Carter will be busy defending Nick. Bye Bye......... As for as Gossett, he is the most humble honest man around. I personally don't know hussey or wright, but I look forward to the meetings. By the way, this is about harassment. Guess what, there is documented proof and closed door meetings that will soon be exposed. Uh Oh. I can't wait to hear what the soon to be citizens Stokes and Gossett have to say under oathe about that. Not to mention what they know about Nicks computer use. Uh Oh..... You can't write this stuff. Gonna be good. Bye for now......

  16. Good bye and good riddens! Yes a lot of bad deeds at city hall will come out on all.....that's what elections are for, to get rid of the mucky slimeballs. Now that half are gone, the new board will have the opportunity to improve the battered reputation. If not, elections do have consequences for them as well.

  18. I found this site when I googled wentzville to see what is going on locally with your police chief. I don't see much. Where can I go to get local opinions? This site seems out of date.

  21. are we that dumb as a city? Why would we put out a statement with quotes from our mayor? Those quotes are false. That was not a smart move on our part.

  22. I'm sure that Mr carter is currently writing a story regarding the recent lawsuit. There are several lawsuits filed by attorneys so maybe he can't decide which one to report on.

  23. This site is so pathetic. Done checking in. Carter and Nick must be busy working out a settlement or Section 8 High Density housing in downtown. Nice try with this blog. Not working. Just delete already
