Robert Hussey -- Candidate Profile -- Knows Real Estate

Wentzville's municipal election is April 8th -- not too far away.  The New Wentzvillian wants you to be as informed as possible.  We will post candidate profiles for all of those candidates who provide a write up to the New Wentzvillian. We will not alter what the candidate provides. Here is candidate Robert Hussey's profile for Wentzville's Ward 1.
Robert Hussey

Name: Robert Hussey
Age: 36
Occupation: Realtor/Broker/Owner of Expert Realty Co.
Contact Phone: 636-265-2295
Alderman in Ward 1 for the City of Wentzville

My wife Heather, children Victoria (18), Nicholas (12), John (8), Isabella (1) and I would appreciate your vote to serve the people of Wentzville.

Reason for Seeking Election:

·         Before my career in real estate, I worked in city management and therefore have several years of full-time local government experience. In addition, I also have a Master’s Degree in Public Policy Administration with an emphasis in Local Governmental Management. I believe this background will be a powerful asset to bring further economic development to the city of Wentzville.
·
Out of the 17 municipalities in St. Charles County area, the City of Wentzville has the fourth highest property tax rate. As a former city manager, I was able to keep property tax rates for the city I worked for at one of the lowest in the county.

·         After reviewing my store receipts, I noticed that city residents are paying nearly 9 percent in sales tax. This is driving residents (and others) to spend their money (and tax dollars) elsewherefor large purchase items.

·         Wentzville is the city I've chosen to raise my family.  I want to make sure it's the safest and most thriving area it can be, for both my family and yours.

Top three priorities if elected:

I will use my previous experience and contacts with MoDot to make the Hwy Z/Church Street exit perform more efficiently, especially during rush hour.

I will work towards smart economic development that has a measureable impact for the taxpayer’s dollars that will bring quality jobs, help further support our first responders, grow our neighborhoods and that in turn will provide more resources for our schools.

This economic development will then allow for a comprehensive plan to be laid out helping lower our property and sales taxes. .

  1. This guy is a real estate agent that will be heavely funded by the HBA. Notice he said "smart economic development" and "grow our neighborhood". Those are code words for reduce the standards for developers to follow and pass that cost off to future homeowners and reduce the minimum house sizes to move these lots. So everyone that already lives here gets screwed. I'd vote none of the above!

    1. First, I have received no support from the HBA. In fact, if you look where my opponents larges sign are; they are on developers lands. So I think you can put two-and-two together. Your logic is flawed and let me explain why. Us Realtors get paid based on the amount of a sale. So, it is in our best interests to have property values as high as possible. 5. I will grant you that your signs are not as big as the others and it looks like your signs are are on residents properties instead of developers property so maybe the HBA hasn't purchased you. That's good news. If my math skills serve me correctly though, selling two $130,000 homes would pay better than 1 $200,000 home. You can sell a lot more $130,000 homes that's why the real estate agents want to reduce the minimum home size. I'm not that easily fooled!

    1. First, thank you for recognizing that I am obviously not associated with the HBA. I am for the people. I cannot be bought out by special interests. From your statements, I'm gathering that you're not familiar with real estate. Yes, your math is correct. However, that would also mean double the work for myself, for only a little bit more money. My overall life and family are too important to be doubling my work load.

So again, I am for the people, and unlike my opponent, cannot be bought. If you'd like to discuss more about my views and stance on issues, please feel free to call me, I'd love to have a real discussion.

  9. she continually came up with solutions as to how we could make things work. We not only ended up with the house of our dreams, but we stayed well within our financial means. She continually went the extra mile for us, helping to sublet our apartment so that we could move into our new house without any loose ends.

  10. What about Mr. Hussey's law suit for real estate fraud as aired on the 4/27 9:30 news on Fox 2 News? Speaks volumes and now he has dragged the city of Wentzille into the picture.

  11. Another corrupt local politician dragging down the city name and reputation. Plaintiff apears to have a strong civil case against all of the Hussey family. When will the criminal charges get filed?
